Implementing or adapting to an EMR does not leave physicians with much additional capacity to add telehealth to the equation. So, how can telehealth tools be used by physicians? Mobility and cost are definitely concerns. However, more importantly what are the business and clinical problems being solved? In order for these tools to be adopted, they have to be better than the current state.
David McFayden talked earlier thie week about the clinical use of a mobile digital camera called Onsight Mobile. Used for wound management, dermatology, fistula management and a variety of other clinical applications, this is a bridging type technology that in my opinion makes sense in certain physician settings.
