The point made about the documents being non-editable was an important one. TIFF is a good file format for read-only files. Along with the scanner, an important part of a health care records system is to use document management software. Such software (e.g. Globodox) allows you to make documents quickly searchable and digitally portable (via email and fax). Documents can be indexed and organized in a range of ways like folders, document types, tags, stack types (e.g. “Patient Records”, “”Suppliers” etc. and linking documents related to each patient or supplier etc.).
